Cleaning Clouded Headlight Lenses
Many vehicles since the 1980's have headlight lenses made of plastic. Ford Aerostar, Taurus/Sable, and many imports. While this is a safer material, it can cloud up and reduce the light output to the point of being dangerous. Fortunately it is an easy fix. You don't even need to remove the headlight assembly!

Pick up some regular cut polish from an automotive supply store and follow the instructions, only you will be using the cut polish on the plastic head light instead of the paint. You will be surprised just how quick and easy it is to remove the haze on the plastic lens. Something like Turtle Wax will do, it takes a bit more effort, but will work fine. You do not need to buy special "headlight cleaner" to do this. The results can be amazing!

Start by simply washing the dirt and bugs off the lights. Now take a clean dry cloth and put a dab of polish on it. Work the polish around the lens and keep rubbing the surface with a circular motion. After a minute or so, it will begin to dry up and get very stiff. This is when you turn the cloth over and use a clean part of your cloth. Put some pressure on the cloth and really work it! It will start to clear up right before your eyes. It took me less than 1 minute to do each of the lights shown below.

This trick also works on plastic lenses for tail lights. Dull red tail lights turn bright and shiny.

As you can see below, their is quite a difference in the before and after.
