Removing the Rotary engine

I'll not spend too much time on this aspect of the swap. Most people wanting to do this kind of work themselves can figure out how to get the old engine out.

In brief, you don't want to go and cut everything as tempting as it may seem. Unless you are putting a carbed V8 into the car, you need to use care when dealing with the wiring. I keep all the old stuff until I'm positive I have no need for it.

Mazda RX7 engine

This is the Mazda rotary engine before it was removed, just for nostalgia.

The ECM is under the floor mat at the passenger's feet. Their are 3 harness connectors that must be disconnected under the dash, wipers etc. Their isn't much room to work under there. Remove the passenger seat, you will need to do this later anyways when you install the transmission mount truss. Poke the disconnected harness through the hole in the firewall.
